Trump Trips Up Over Wall?
Getting facts straight
Fox News -- Hannity -- August 23, 2016
Trump says he's open to 'softening' immigration laws in 'Hannity' town hall
Hannity: How long would it take you to build that wall, start to finish – you're a builder
Trump: I'm very good at it – almost immediately Now, if you would believe it you know they were going to build the wall in a while ago Not so long ago, like in '06 and they couldn't get environmental impact statements . Can you believe it? OK?
Now, we got lucky because it was such a little wall, it was such a nothing wall , now they couldn't get their environment --- probably a snake was in the way , or a toad or a timur (?) probably something you never heard of, but something was in the way.

Why the 700 mile fence wasn't completed
Donald Trump has suggested that environmental concerns stopped the construction of the fence called for in the Secure Fence Act of 2006. In a sense, he is right about what happened in 2006, but environmental issues didn't stop the fence for long. BORDER WALL: BROADEST WAIVER OF LAW IN AMERICAN HISTORY
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 called for the construction of 700 miles of double-layered fence, but only about 35 miles of that type were actually built. Why? Because Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson snuck an amendment into an omnibus bill that gave DHS discretion over what to build and where, so long as they maintained "operational control" the border.
DHS built junk and did not maintain operational control of the border.
Had the Trump people visited me last year as promised, they could have avoided this kind of blunder.
