DHS chief John Kelly: Trump will 'be insistent' for border wall funding
President Trump is willing to shut down the federal government to get funding for the U.S.-Mexico border wall, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told CNN this weekend.
"I think it goes without saying that the president has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall so I would suspect that he'll do the right thing for sure, but I would suspect that he'll be insistent for funding," Kelly said in an interview on "State of the Union." [...]
Trump submitted a supplemental budget to Congress earlier this year that requested roughly $1.5 billion to help build the border wall.
Democrats have warned for weeks that they wouldn't support a government funding bill that included money for the border wall, which they consider a "poison pill."
Schumer's spokesman had accused the White House of gumming up the government funding talks.

The Emperor's New Wall
Is President Trump proving that members of Congress don't read any of the bills they vote on? All reports suggest that the only wall in the $1.5 billion budget is for sections of new solid fencing in Texas atop levees. These “walls” are not right on the border and do not represent the kinds of problems a border wall would present. The rest is for conventional fencing.
The Emperor may be naked, but Congress can sure see that new coat (wall).
