Trump goes after WaPo reporter for misleading tweet
President Trump blasted a Washington Post reporter on Saturday, accusing him of posting a misleading photo showing a mostly-empty venue ahead of the president's Friday rally in Pensacola, Fla.
"@DaveWeigel @WashingtonPost put out a phony photo of an empty arena hours before I arrived @ the venue, w/ thousands of people outside, on their way in. Real photos now shown as I spoke," Trump tweeted. "Packed house, many people unable to get in. Demand apology & retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo!

Dave Weigel should apologized to me
Two years ago the Washington Post ran a story about me and an airplane, written by Dave Weigel
I flew the airplane with “GO TRUMP” on the bottom of the wing during a demonstration of my technology that the Trump campaign had planned to attend. The campaign was a no-show, but I had to fly the airplane for the demonstration regardless and a local photographer, Mark Levy, shot the photo.
I sent the photo to Dave Weigel, mainly because he was the only national reporter for whom I had an email. I had his email because, back in 2013 he had done a Slate Magazine story on my work, after spending a weekend at my ranch.
In Slate, Weigel did an honest job of describing the SEIDARM system and my use of drones, but, of course, he had to mention the attacks on me by the Southern Poverty Law Center --- but I expect that.
I drew the line when Weigel he wrote this in the Post:
He's home-brewed border technology even as he's had to explain away why a Minuteman activist-turned-murder suspect, Shawna Forde, wound up on his property. ("I still don't know why Shawna Forde suddenly appeared at my front door, but I am sorry she did," he wrote in 2009.)
I emailed Weigel saying this reference was gratuitous, i.e., “uncalled for, lacking good reason, unwarranted” He linked me to a suspected (now convicted) murderer when such a link was unwarranted. Yes, he provided a link to my “Full Disclosure about Shawna Forde” --- written four years earlier --- but Weigel had to know that few would click on that link.
Because Shawna Forde was arrested shortly after leaving my ranch, Pima County got a warrant and searched my home. Nothing came from that search and I was never contacted by the prosecutor in the case for any reason. I had nothing to do with Shawna Forde beyond allowing her, as a Minuteman, to use a motor home on my ranch --- 1/2 mile from my residence --- for a very short time, and the prosecutor knew it. Reporter Weigel knew all of these things as well.
Weigel tried to falsely link me to a murderer to hurt Donald Trump --- because I flew an airplane with his name on it.
Dave Weigel apologized to President Trump. He should apologize to me as well.
