Texas prosecutors charged a two-time deported criminal alien from Mexico in the cold case murder of a Texas auto shop owner. The foreign national is currently in federal prison following a conviction for illegal re-entry after removal. -- Juan Eduardo Meraz-Flores is charged in the murder of a Fort Worth, Texas, auto shop owner in January 2007. The victim, Jose “Martin” Muñoz, reportedly got in an argument with a customer who allegedly pulled a gun and shot him in the head, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. What a Difference A Day Makes: How Misdemeanor Sentencing In Connecticut and Elsewhere Impacts Immigration      
Connecticut's Sentencing Commission recently recommended that the state legislature reduce the maximum sentence for misdemeanors committed in the Nutmeg State by one day, from 365 days to 364 days in jail. The sole purpose of what might appear at first glance to be a very small technical change is to protect criminal aliens. The Commission even said so themselves. -- Under federal immigration law, aliens convicted of certain types of felonies (including legal aliens in the U.S. on visas and green cards as well as illegal aliens) get pushed to the front of the line in the deportation process in various ways. Any felony conviction for a “crime of moral turpitude,” i.e., one involving dishonesty such as theft or fraud, makes an alien automatically deportable.......

Yesterday, the Department of Homeland Security posted the annual Yearbook of Immigration Statistics for 2016, and it appears that Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America didn't disappoint. Here are some key details and observations of the report: Near-record numbers: In 2016, DHS issued 1,183,505 green cards, the most of any year during Obama's presidency. It is also the second highest number in the modern era, if we put aside 1990-1991, when we processed hundreds of thousands of extra green cards as a result of the 1986 amnesty. Of those roughly 1.2 million, 565,427 were already living here on temporary visas and 618,078 were new arrivals.......
